Bioanalytical Chemist 

Fixed term contract until May 2022

Based in High Wycombe

 

Role Purpose:

To provide a mycotoxin and natural toxin testing service to Premier Group and external clients. May suit a graduate with some industry experience or new graduate without experience seeking their first step on the career ladder.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Undertake routine HPLC and LC/MS based analyses within the Bioanalytical Chemistry team.
  • Prioritise and organise the completion of work to customers deadlines.
  • carry out method developments for HPLC-based methods.
  • Carry out routine maintenance of HPLC equipment.
  • Undertake training to broaden knowledge of food analysis and analytical techniques.
  • Carry out sample logging and data entry into LIMS.
  • Ensure that all operations comply with health and safety regulations especially COSHH.
  • Maintain laboratories in a safe, tidy and clean manner.
  • Maintain records of all work carried out in accordance to the UKAS quality system and to assist in the compilation of test and support methods.
  • Undertake reporting of results to customers once fully trained.

 

What we need from you:

Essential

  • Science related Degree
  • Good knowledge and understanding of chromatography techniques.
  • Proven good organisational abilities - self motivated 

 

Desirable

  • Good practical skills in HPLC with emphasis on attention to detail
  • Good practical skills in sample preparation techniques and/ or general chemical analysis
  • Experience of Laboratory analytical work in a business environment using HPLC
  • Ability to trouble shoot and perform routine maintenance of HPLC equipment 
  • Practical experience of LC/MS desirable Experience of working in Food/Agriculture industry
  • Analytical Chemistry/Food Science MSc or similar
  • Good understanding of HPLC trouble shooting techniques
  • General understanding of Food Chemistry and Food Technology
