Based in Lifton, Devon. 

Salary £19,400 per annum.

Up to 12 month fixed term contract.

37.5 hours per week.


Reporting to the Micro Lab Supervisor, you will undertake routine laboratory duties to include collecting samples from the factory and raw material intake, incubate and microbiologically test samples of finished product, swabs, water & raw materials advising on final acceptability. In addition, 1 day a week you will join the site auditing team to carry out GMP, System and HACCP audits.


What you'll be doing:

  • Assess raw materials against specification and send for testing
  • Incubate and assess the commercial sterility of finished product samples taken during manufacture
  • Environmental monitoring of hygiene in production areas by collecting swabs, water, packaging, air and Biotrace samples
  • Release and hold raw materials on SAP
  • Enter test results, in a timely and accurate manner into a variety of Excel databases
  • Carry out Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) audits, supporting the area owners to identify route cause, to prevent reoccurrence of any non-conformances identified
  • Conduct audits against the Site HACCP system and retailer / governing bodies codes of practice
  • Complete concise written reports in a timely manner


What we need from you:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and time management
  • Confident in using IT systems
  • 1 years’ experience in a similar role would be highly desirable, although full training will be given
  • Experience using SAP system would be advantageous
