Finance Manager - Fixed Assets Operations

Full time, permanent

Based in Manchester on a Hybrid basis

 

Role purpose:

  • Management and ownership of end to end Fixed Assets / IFRS 16 / CAPEX process across Premier Group
  • Monthly and Year End Group reporting – COGNOS
  • Management of internal and external audit
  • Intercompany accounting and development of the process
  • Balance sheet management, development, review and reporting
  • Management and development of a team of 3

 

What you'll be doing:

 

  •  Monthly presentation of fixed assets / IFRS 16 overview to senior management including group CFO
  • Ownership of and development of end to end CAPEX process, from CAPEX approvals to Fixed Asset capitalisation additions, disposals and impairment. Identify weaknesses in current practice and develop the process working with business partners
  • Budgeting & forecasting depreciation
  • Deliver fully supported notes to the Year End accounts
  • Ensure monthly processes, including monthly settlement to assets under construction (AUCs), accounting for depreciation, asset disposals & impairments, and other month end processes are completed to a high standard
  • Ownership of and development of the accounting for intercompany transactions across all Premier companies
  • Ensure that all balance sheet reconciliations are completed on time, comply with agreed standards, fully investigate variances and improve internal controls & processes
  • Reporting and communication of balance sheet opportunities and risks
  • Effectively manage and identify development requirements for associates
  • Strong focus on customer service, provide agreed level of service to the business and external customers
  • Ensure delivery of consistent, accurate and timely information to the business with records maintained for internal and external reporting requirements
  • Pro-actively identify, research and recommend improvements to systems and processes within the team to ensure efficient and effective business operations. Testing and implementation of changes once approved
  • Ensure appropriate controls are implemented and process and procedures are compliant with legal and audit requirements

 

What we need from you:

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)
  • Sound demonstration of accounting knowledge
  • Broad finance experience
  • People management & business partnering experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Significant process improvement experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced team, delivering to tight deadlines
  • Advanced Excel skills

 

Desirable

  • SAP experience
  • FMCG experience
  • Stock accounting experience
