We are looking for a full time, permanent Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias to work days within the Reliability Engineering Team.

 

The main purpose of the job is to provide engineering resource in carrying out planned maintenance, breakdown repairs, refurbishment, installation, improvements and modifications or upgrade to plant and services in order to maximise plant performance and maintain equipment to the required standard. 

 

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • To improve plant availability, life cycle costs and efficiency
  • To carry out all engineering work to a high Engineering, Quality, Safety and Hygiene standards and ensure correct paperwork is completed
  • To help support the engineering function in moving to World Class standard in maintenance standards in line with audits and benchmarking
  • To provide full Technical Engineering support to production function under the leadership of the Engineering Managers/Supervisors and by working as part of a multi-functional team
  • To understand and contribute to achieving the goals of the Factory by efficiently carrying out any assigned Engineering task
  • To meet customer needs and daily requirements with a ‘right first time’ approach along with maintaining a safe factory environment at an improved ongoing cost.
  • To work effectively with others as part of a team who together possess all the skills to convert product on an hour by hour basis complying with quality, safety and any other legislative requirements.
  • To assist on journey to moving towards a 100% PM and CBM based program.
  • To help control the engineering workshop, compound and external areas, ensure they are kept in a clean, tidy and safe manner at all times.
  • To be involved with projects in designated areas.
  • Assist with the achievement of Engineering KPI’s.
  • Be conversant with CMMS software (SAP) and ensure all parts are booked out, resource time is captured, logging on and off the system etc
  • Attend all meetings as required and deputise when necessary.
  • Attend training courses as required and keep up to date with technological advances.  Assist with the training of apprentices, technicians and other relevant personnel.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as and when required.

 

EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Formal electrical engineering qualification to at least City & Guilds level, NVQ level 3 or equivalent in an electrical and mechanical discipline with corresponding practical experience 
  • Electrical and Mechanical maintenance experience
  • Experience gained within a food manufacturing environment with a food hygiene qualification would be preferred however strong engineers from any fast-paced manufacturing environment will be considered.
  • Full understanding of safe working practices and relevant legislation where applicable 
  • Experience of generic engineering equipment is essential, Rockwell Allen Bradley PLCs, Electrical components, and basic understanding of Mechanical components
  • Experience of carrying out techniques/improvements focused on maximising engineering reliability
  • Needs the ability to clearly understand engineering drawings, symbols and notation.
  • Experience of computerised maintenance management system such as SAP
  • Experience of continuous improvement techniques and implementation
  • Experience conducting or knowledge of Condition Based Monitoring techniques would be advantageous
