International Brand Director (Sharwoods)

St Albans based (with flexibility and requiring some international travel)

Premier Foods International is looking for a highly experienced and energetic Brand Director to lead the creation of transformational plans that grow Premier Foods’s participation in the international Indian (South Asian) Foods category.  Our ambition for the category is to deliver a step change programme to put in place the strategy and working with country managers and cross functional deliver the plan to build Sharwoods into the world’s leading Indian Foods (South Asian) brand. 


The scope of the role includes all markets outside the UK but with primary focus on North America, Europe and Australasia  


What you'll be doing: 


  • Development and execution of annual international marketing plans and effective allocation of annual marketing budget  

  • Lead, motivate, build and coach team 

  • Regular reporting to International Director and Exec team on brand performance and future 

  • Develop a clear strategy and a three-year brand strategy plan to drive growth for Sharwoods, rooted in consumer insight, behaviour and understanding of our international markets. 

  • Set the direction for our partner agencies to build market leading communications platforms and through the line executions. 

  • Lead creation of a 3-year innovation pipeline which delivers both breakthrough NPD, and EPD to sustain growth in the core business linking very closely with UK business to lift and shift if possible and meeting international consumer needs 

  • Key team members in International senior leadership team, working cross functional including country manager located in market and their teams. 

  • Being the voice of the international Sharwoods consumer 

  • Though not primary focus provide support to grocery brands on a tactical and executional basis 


What we'll need from you: 


  • You’ll already be a highly experienced international marketer with a strong track record of brand transformation and leading strategic change, whilst inspiring dynamic and highly energised teams 

  • Experience of international marketing leadership within a leading FMCG organisation developing brands on a global basis 

  • Demonstrable experience of cross-functional leadership and delivery in a fast moving and dynamic environment 

  • Thorough understanding and experience of working internationally across multiple markets 

  • An instinctive marketer who ‘gets’ international consumers and places them at the core of everything that they do 

  • A commercially and analytically aware individual who is comfortable developing and presenting business cases in an organisation which will only invest on the back of sound quantitative evidence 

  • A relentless desire to get things done and high degree of personal accountability 

  • An individual who has a track record of getting the best out of their people and their agencies with an inspiring collaborative and inclusive style, these agencies may be located in international markets.  

  • Evidence of having a lack of patience with convention and a track record of setting a new standard in a way that a brand communicates with its’ consumers  

  • Ability to take part in international travel to focused on North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Estimated on a quarterly basis. Also, ability to work flexibly to allow effective communication within market business units in different time zones i.e. Australia, USA and Canada.
