New Ventures Manager

Based in St Albans/Hybrid WFH



As a business we are looking forward to the next phase of our development, where we deliver ‘Outperformance’ defined by further accelerated

growth that’s ahead of the UK market norms. One of the key strategic platforms to deliver this growth is to identify emerging new categories/white

spaces for our portfolio, and to lead the entry into these areas via M&A, licensing, and new commercial partnerships.


This role is a member of the newly developed ‘New Ventures & M&A team’ and sits within the Marketing function. This is a new area encompassing

multiple disciplines – strategy, commercial, innovation and marketing. As our New Ventures Manager, you will be required to support the Director

of New Ventures & M&A to help assess new white spaces with attractive dynamics for Premier to play in, and to ongoing, identify, evaluate and

execute commercial opportunities. Areas of focus will include (but not be limited to) helping to assess future business opportunities for licensing,

M&A and partnerships, and moving them through to execution.


Although the role will initially be focused on supporting the Director of New Ventures & M&A in opportunity analysis, as the team develops, the

role and responsibilities will evolve. Therefore a flexible mindset, an enjoyment of working with data and spotting opportunities, alongside the

ability to form strong, positive working relationships and work cross-functionally is important.


What you'll be doing:

  • Continually be ‘on the pulse’ of emergent macro-economic trends in foods and beverages to inform our growth strategy.
  • Lead category, competitor and retailer analyses to support the Director of New Ventures and M&A in the identification of relevant commercial opportunities for Premier in new white spaces.
  • Assess future business opportunities with new Licensees and commercial partners, to drive increased revenue and margins
  • Support the development of business cases for new commercial opportunities, working in collaboration with marketing, finance and customer teams.
  • Work with the broader commercial teams to translate strategic opportunities into implementation, for example conducting an external partner / co-manufacturer search.
  • Partner with the Insights team to commission research studies that help us to evaluate relevant white spaces.
  • Day to day management of existing/new commercial partnerships, including internal coordination and communication with key stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to take on additional responsibilities as the role/team evolves.


What we need from you:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a commercial role with experience in a consulting and/or analyst role
  • Enquiring mind with strong analytical & numerical capability
  • Adept at analysing data, identifying commercial opportunities, and pulling together clear recommendations.
  • Self-starter with drive, who can work in a fast-moving environment (FMCG experience desirable but not essential)
  • Good communication skills with the ability to confidently communicate both internally & externally
  • Able to work collaboratively and build effective relationships
  • Good written skills in order to be able to support with preparing slides/ business cases etc
  • Expert level in Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint is essential
