As a Shift Manager, you will manage the operational performance of a shift within one of our factories. Reporting into the Operations Manager, you will be key to ensuring your team of highly skilled Operatives are engaged and performing on the highly automated production lines, as well as ensuring Safety and Quality standards are always adhered to.


Here at Worksop, we have four factories on site that produce a variety of well-known brands and products including:

  • OXO
  • Sauces - including Sharwoods and Homepride
  • Batchelors Supernoodles
  • Sharwoods Poppadoms
  • Bisto gravy granules
  • SAXA salt


Our variety of operations and processes include extrusion, agglomeration, pasteurisation, frying technologies, as well as a variety of packing mediums and technologies.


Our team of 15 Shift Managers have opportunities to move across factories to continually develop and build their knowledge of our site.


You will work a 3-week rotating shift pattern as below:

‘Days’ 06:00am – 14:00pm

‘Nights’ 21:45pm – 06:15am (Friday 19:00pm – 01:00am)

‘Afters’ 13:45pm – 22:00pm (Friday 12:45pm – 19:45pm)

What you will be doing – includes:


  • Health, Safety & Environmental – pro-actively managing to ensure a safe working environment for everyone within your factory, and that Health, Safety & Environment policies, initiatives and site rules are embedded.


  • Continuous Improvement – ensuring the delivery of agreed KPIs across your factory. Developing and implement CI initiatives, as well as supporting central projects such as packaging initiatives, product trials.


  • Employee Relations – supporting and encouraging the Premier Foods values. Promoting great employee relations through fair, consistent and effective people management.


  • Quality Standards – leading and driving the standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and house keeping within your factory through GMP and the use of SAP. Ensure food and product safety through CCPs and QCPs.


  • Communication – owning communication processes within your factory to ensure your team are well informed. Encouraging effective channels of communication within team and across teams. Supporting the site Senior team with communication across the site, including daily meetings, factory committee and engagement champions.


  • Performance Management – inspiring and motivating all team members to promote employee engagement and productivity. Managing the performance and attendance of all team members fairly using the systems, policies and processes in place.


  • Training & Development – working with the Training team to ensure effective training and development of all team members, including meeting mandatory training requirements. Coaching, developing, and recruiting team members to support a sustainable and flexible workforce.


  • Labour Control – planning labour requirements within your factory to ensure both short-term and long-term business needs are met effectively and efficiently. Working closely with Operations Managers and Engineering managers to ensure resources and skills are aligned to the needs of your shift and factory, to achieve the best results possible. Working with Operations Managers to ensure labour flexibility is maintained across factories across site.


  • Recruitment – leading recruitment activity including the selection process for your Technical Operators, ensuring the necessary skills are in place at the right time.



What we need from you:



  • 2 years’ experience working within a team at Supervisor or manager level
  • Track record of performance delivery and delivery against targets
  • Confidence using MS Office applications – Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
  • Excellent communicator
  • Strong organisational time management skills



  • HND Level qualification (or equivalent)
  • SAP knowledge
  • Food Hygiene and IOSHH qualifications
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Experience of working within Food Manufacturing
  • 2 years FMCG experience
  • HACCP Level 2 or greater
