Join Premier Foods — where people, brands and purpose come together.
We’re proud to be one of the UK’s largest listed food businesses, with over 4,000 colleagues across 13 sites shaping the future of some of Britain’s best‑loved brands, found in 94% of households nationwide, making us one of the UK’s top three ambient food suppliers. From much‑loved household names such as Mr Kipling, Bisto, Oxo, Batchelors and Sharwoods, to our recently welcomed brands Fuel10k and Merchant Gourmet, our portfolio is packed with iconic favourites — and continues to grow.
Are you highly organised, detail-driven and ready to build your project management career within a fast-paced FMCG environment? We’re looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our PMO team on a 12 month maternity cover contract, supporting the delivery of exciting innovation projects across our global categories.
In this role, you’ll help bring brilliant products to market — from launching a new Mr Kipling cake slice in Australia, to supporting packaging redesigns, recipe changes and innovation projects across some of our much-loved brands. You’ll work closely with teams across R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Regulatory, Commercial and more, helping to keep projects on track from approval through to launch.
As Assistant Project Manager, you’ll support the project management team by coordinating, tracking and helping deliver day-to-day project activity. You’ll play a key role in maintaining project plans, monitoring actions and risks, supporting governance requirements and ensuring stakeholders have clear, accurate project updates.
You’ll also support project meetings, prepare agendas, capture actions and follow up on next steps, making sure timelines, milestones and key decisions are clearly managed. This is a brilliant opportunity to develop your project management capability through hands-on experience and formal development, with a natural progression pathway into future Project Manager roles.
What you'll be doing?
- Supporting the planning and delivery of global projects across a range of categories.
- Maintaining project plans, trackers, reports and project records to support on-time delivery
- Coordinating inputs from cross-functional teams including R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Regulatory and Commercial.

- Helping monitor project costs and highlighting any risks to budget or delivery.
- Contributing to post-launch reviews and capturing lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
What we need from you?
We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable working with multiple priorities. You’ll have strong planning skills, clear communication skills and a structured, methodical approach to your work. Attention to detail is key, as is the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience in project coordination, PMO or delivery support would be beneficial, as would awareness of project management principles, governance or lifecycle stages such as Stage and Gate. FMCG experience and experience using project management or tracking systems would also be advantageous, but not essential.

- Up to 7.5% pension
- Private medical insurance and life assurance
- Sharesave scheme and the option to purchase additional holiday
