Commercial Planning Manager

8 Month FTC

Based in St Albans

 

Role purpose:

Working within the Commercial Planning team, this is a key commercial role focussed exclusively on 1 category. The single-minded purpose of the role is to set and manage the implementation of the commercial plan for this category and helping to shape the revenue growth agenda. This fundamentally means that the role ensures our brands operate effectively in the category to deliver Retail sales and share growth every quarter and exceed internal targets. Specifically, the Revenue Growth Manager will build the overall commercial plan for success for each brand, ensuring it is brought to life and delivered through all functions.

This role provides an opportunity to influence, drive change and help develop future strategies with the Head of Commercial Planning to grow the category.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Build and maintain a rolling 18 month Commercial plan that will deliver the budget sales and market share growth targets.
  • Commercialise NPD and own the setting of stretching but realistic sales targets and the creation of brilliantly compelling selling stories.
  • Set the promotional guidelines, empowered to sign off promotions with any individual spend of up to £0.25m and/or within specific trade spend efficiency / GPAS metrics.
  • Monitor sales performance, forecasts and NPD execution to drive appropriate course correction of the commercial plan for the brands in the category.
  • Improve pre and post promotion/event evaluation to drive improved forecast accuracy, trade spend efficiency and ROI learning.

 

What we need from you:

Essential

  • At least 2 years senior sales experience with a top 4 major mult
  • At least 2 years in an RGM function with proven track record of delivering target performance
  • Strong business analysis, an ability to understand cross functional business process is vital
  • Effective influencing skills and proven project leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills, able to facilitate cross-functional initiatives, able to translate opportunities of financial solutions to a wider business audience
  • A good understanding of financial systems and processes
  • Proactively identifies improvement opportunities, embrace change and ability to drive initiatives through to execution
  • Ability to model proposed opportunities to ascertain business impact
  • Excellent knowledge of continues insights / market data sources

 

Desirable

  • Marketing and/or Category experience
  • Supply Chain Understanding
  • Degree educated
  • Deep understanding of customer requirements across all Sales channels
  • Full P&L understanding
  • Best practise disciplines in pricing & promotions and pack architecture
  • Highly numerate (excellent knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint)
