Director of Insights and Business Analysis

Purpose:

We have been on an exciting journey over the past 5 years where we have turned around the business and have been continuously growing in our core UK market.  With the turnaround delivered, the business is now looking forward to the next phase, where we deliver ‘Outperformance’ defined by further accelerated growth that’s well ahead of the UK market norms. There are multiple strategic plan elements to deliver the next phase of growth, which are:

 

  • Continued healthy growth of our UK business driven by fewer/bigger/better Innovation and increased brand marketing investment.
  • Expand our iconic brands into new whitespace categories within the UK
  • Accelerate our International growth behind driving growth into existing international markets as well as expanding into new ones.
  • Selective M&A that will complement our growth

Getting to stronger insights fuelled by business analytics will be at the heart of delivering against above objectives, therefore making this role, which will be heading up the entire Insights & Business Analytics function for the company a very critical role in the company.

 

This role is a member of the overall Senior Leadership Team (‘SLT’) within the company and sits within the Marketing Leadership Team. And there will be frequent interactions with the Executive Leadership Team on various high level strategic topics as part of annual Strategic Planning as well as Budget processes.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading and developing the entire Insights & Business Analytics function of the company, with a current team of 9, which has been expanding as we’re in a growth stage. 
  • Taking ownership & accountability of the company’s multi-million pound Insights budget and ensure deployment of it to areas with biggest impact.
  • Building capability in the organisation to get to breakthrough insights that informs everything we do especially fewer/bigger/better Innovation.
  • Upskilling the organisation on key business & market understanding to identify opportunities of growth and early detection of emerging issues so that proactive plans can be developed.
  • Playing a key role in the overall company Strategic Planning Process to shape Where to Play and How to Win Strategic choices, bringing outside in.
  • Providing thought leadership to all the Marketing function & Brand Directors on identifying growth opportunities to take the business to Outperformance.
  • Ensuring we work with a roster of external suppliers that are best in their field to help us deliver our Growth objectives.
  • Owning the relationship with external data suppliers / partners – IRI, Kantar, etc to help us deliver our Growth objectives.

 

What we need from you:

  • A proven track record and experience on all aspects of Insights & Business Analytics function – Innovation development and delivery, Core business delivery, Strategic Planning, external supplier management.
  • Demonstrable achievement in building and nurturing high performing teams, where everyone feels included and performs at their best.
  • The ability to provide game changing thought leadership to the Category teams as well as to the Executive Leadership that informs key strategic choices of the company.
  • The ability to set high standards and ability to engage and lead own team as well as multi-functional team to deliver against them.
