We have an ambitious vision for growth driven by Innovation, targeting 10% of the Company’s turnover driven by Innovations each year and in this maternity contract as Senior Process Development Technologist you will support the R&D Process Manager along with the wider R&D team to identify future process opportunities that can influence the 3 to 10 year process & development pipeline.
The Senior Process Development Technologist will:
- Have freedom to explore new and novel technologies.
- Deep dive and trouble shoot the current Premier Foods process landscape across national & international manufacturers.
- Collaborate with external partners such as Suppliers & Universities, building networks and generating ideas.
What we need from you....?
- Ideally a degree in a relevant Food or engineering background.
- Experience within the food environment preferably Ambient but not essential.
- Understanding and preferably experience of Thermal Process, Extrusion, Baking and Agglomeration.
- Good understanding of Microsoft office especially Excel
What you'll be doing...?
Product and Process Development
To use a wide category knowledge to identify and define new product / process pathways that help improve business performance. This involves process landscaping, conducting trials, validating methods, and refining techniques to meet quality and efficiency standards.
Project Management
Manage cross-functional projects across new and existing processes, coordinating with teams in R&D, Operations, Engineering, and quality assurance. Responsibilities include maintaining timelines, resource allocation (personal), and risk management.
Technical Troubleshooting and Continuous Improvement
Utilise Pilot Plant facilities to identify scale up changes, run trials and analyse production challenges.
Work alongside site technical & process teams to identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain consistency.
To be a technical leader in their area driving technical improvements in line with Premier Foods requirements.
Regulatory and Compliance Adherence
Ensure that all new processes being explored comply with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP) along with market requirements. Gain knowledge of thermal regulatory practice and support the business during BRC / FDA auditing.
Training and Knowledge Sharing
Train and mentor junior staff processes, ensuring smooth transitions and adoption of best practices. This may include developing training materials and conducting workshops. Build upon and generate new active working partnerships across manufacturing and academic sources to maintain team and personal knowledge of working environment.
