About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Assistant to join our Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for food safety, quality, and compliance who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will provide essential support to the Technical Department, helping to maintain BRC certification, support internal and external audits, and ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality, legality, and authenticity are achieved across site.
Key Responsibilities
- Support compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures across site.
- Promote a positive food safety and quality culture through engagement and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain technical records, registers, logs, and documentation.
- Prepare, analyse, and distribute technical data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure technical documentation and materials are available for production areas when required.
- Coordinate and distribute customer complaint samples to relevant stakeholders.
- Complete site and manufacturing centre audits, including GMP, EFK, and CCP audits.
- Coordinate and carry out sampling and testing schedules, including microbiological, allergen, vegan, raw material, and TUL sampling.
- Calibrate technical equipment in accordance with established schedules.
- Support internal and external audits and assist with corrective action follow-up.
- Support traceability exercises and investigations.
- Distribute audit non-conformances to action owners and monitor completion.
- Provide support to the Technical Lead and cover key activities during periods of absence.
About You
We are seeking a self-motivated individual with strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail. You will be comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across the business.
Essential Requirements
- Basic understanding of Quality and Food Safety within a food manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Food Hygiene Level 2.
- HACCP Level 2.
- Internal Audit Training.
- Pest Control Training.
- Good working knowledge of IT-based quality and technical systems.
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing or quality environment.
